Catacombs
The haunting and ghostly tunnels of the catacombs have winding staircases, dim lights and low ceilings that drip. With walls of bones, these underground hallways are not for the easily spooked. Created due to the overcrowding of cemeteries in the 17th century, the catacombs now hold about 6 million people. It is hard to fathom that what your seeing is all real. It never occurred to me that people might try to snatch a souvenir, but on the way out the security guard explained that many do. While he checked our bags to see if we were bone thieves, I noticed a piled of confiscated skulls sitting next to him.
